Marbella’s Hospitality Boom: €290 Million Invested in Hotel Renovations and New Developments
Over the past seven years, more than 50 hotels in Marbella have undergone extensive refurbishments, with new projects also on the horizon. The town continues to modernize its hospitality sector, blending newly established hotels with long-standing favorites that have been upgraded to enhance comfort and services. In total, approximately €290 million has been invested in these improvements, with hotels now gearing up for the upcoming high season.

Town planning councillor José Eduardo Díaz recently visited the nearly completed renovation work at Los Monteros. He highlighted Marbella’s "exceptional initiatives for the creation and modernization of the town’s tourist infrastructure." He also emphasized that the hospitality sector, comprising 68 hotels, has undergone significant improvements in recent years, raising the overall quality of its offerings.

The €14 million renovation of Los Monteros is a prime example of this progress, according to Díaz, who described it as "a symbol of the modernization and renewal of the town’s historic area."

Major Hotel Projects
Alongside Los Monteros, several other hotel projects have contributed to Marbella’s transformation. Recent refurbishments include El Fuerte and Club Med Magna Marbella (formerly Don Miguel). Meanwhile, construction in Guadalmina represents an investment of around €56 million, and the Incosol renovation is set to cost €87.5 million.

"Hotels such as Don Carlos are also undergoing transformation, while others, like Meliá Banús and Don Pepe, are being expanded," Díaz added. He also highlighted major upcoming projects, including the Four Seasons and W Hotel, as well as future tourism developments, particularly in San Pedro Alcántara.

As Marbella strengthens its position as a premier luxury destination, the town continues to focus on attracting high-end tourism. According to Spain’s National Statistics Institute (INE), Marbella recorded the highest average revenue per hotel room (ADR) in Spain in 2024, at €214.07 per night.
