This weekend, thousands gathered in Puerto Banús to witness the dazzling event hailed as the Formula 1 of the seas.
The E1 Series, renowned as the Formula 1 of the seas, wrapped up its thrilling third race in Marbella on Sunday, with Marc Anthony's team emerging victorious. The internationally acclaimed singer, who also wowed audiences with a concert in San Pedro Alcántara on Friday, led his team to triumph over a roster of celebrity-led teams, including one captained by actor Will Smith.
Held in the exclusive Puerto Banús marina, the event attracted a throng of spectators, including many high-profile guests who arrived by private jet. They witnessed Anthony's Miami team, which featured jet ski champion Anna Glennon and Swedish powerboat racer Erik Stark, secure their first win in this innovative international electric boat competition.
In addition to Marc Anthony and Will Smith, the star-studded lineup included sports legends, Hollywood stars, and music icons, all contributing to the event’s glamorous atmosphere. Celebrities such as tennis superstar Rafael Nadal, actor Leonardo DiCaprio, and pop sensation Dua Lipa were spotted mingling with fans and cheering on the teams.
Will Smith's team, with Spanish driver Lucas Ordóñez and American racer Sara Price, claimed the runner-up position. Smith, known for his charismatic presence, took time to engage with the crowd, adding to the excitement of the event.
Despite challenging wind conditions and a minor collision resulting in one boat's wing detaching, the race proceeded smoothly without major incidents.
Marbella's mayor, Ángeles Muñoz, underscored the economic impact of the event, estimating it at approximately 25 million euros. The organization reserved over 400 hotel rooms along the Costa del Sol, providing a significant boost to local hospitality businesses.
Created by Alejandro Agag and Rodi Basso, the E1 Series is set to continue in iconic locations such as Monaco, Hong Kong, and Geneva, promising even more high-octane excitement and star power.
