Marbella Secures Top Spot as Best European Destination for 2024
Marbella has clinched the title of the best European destination to visit in 2024, as awarded by the esteemed travel website European Best Destinations, garnering the highest number of votes in its 15-year history. Surpassing one million participants hailing from 172 countries, Marbella emerged victorious, standing atop the podium alongside Monaco (in second place) and Malta (in third place) from a pool of twenty distinguished destinations. With a staggering 149,192 votes, a record-breaking figure in the history of this accolade, Marbella proudly claims the spotlight as the first Spanish city to earn such recognition, having previously secured the second position two years ago.

In the official announcement of the award, Maximilien Lejeune, CEO of European Best Destinations, hailed Marbella as "a beacon of tourism excellence in Europe," commending its ability to cater to a diverse array of travelers, spanning from the age of 3 to 103, and encompassing sports aficionados, shopaholics, and gourmands alike.

Setting another milestone, the 2024 edition of the awards saw a remarkable total of 1,096,938 votes, with 59 percent originating from outside the continent, marking a historic high since the inception of the event. This surge in global interest underscores the enduring allure of European destinations among international travelers.

The honored destinations receive extensive promotion not only on the organization's travel website but also across partner media platforms such as Forbes USA, Condé Nast, Corriere Viaggi, and Yahoo, reaching a combined audience of approximately 420 million travelers.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Ángeles Muñoz, Mayor of Marbella, remarked, "We are thrilled to receive this prestigious accolade," foreseeing an even brighter tourism outlook for 2024, building upon the record-breaking figures achieved in 2023.
