Malaga Airport Soars to New Heights: Smashing Records and Setting Trends!
Malaga Airport has set a new record for the first quarter of 2024, welcoming over 4.5 million passengers through its terminals. This achievement surpasses last year's record, making it the busiest quarter in the airport's history. Positioned as the third busiest in Spain, Malaga Airport continues its rapid growth within the Aena network.

The surge in passenger traffic reflects a remarkable 21.6% increase compared to the same period last year, outpacing the growth rate of other major Spanish airports. With over 4.5 million passengers and more than 32,000 flights, Malaga Airport stands out as a vital hub for travel, showcasing a robust 14.3% rise in landings and take-offs.

Commercial flights accounted for the majority of passenger movements, with significant growth in both domestic and international travel. Connections with foreign countries saw a remarkable 25.4% increase, underscoring Malaga Airport's international appeal.

The UK led in passenger numbers, followed by Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and France, highlighting the airport's diverse range of international travellers. March marked a particularly impressive month, setting a new record with 1.75 million passengers and over 12,000 flight operations.

February experienced the highest growth rate, with a notable 26.7% increase in passenger movements. As Malaga Airport gears up for the summer season, airlines are offering a record-breaking 20 million seats, an 11% increase from the previous year. Direct flights to 136 cities worldwide, including sought-after destinations like New York and the Middle East, further enhance the airport's global connectivity.

With expectations for another record-breaking summer, Malaga Airport continues to solidify its position as a vital gateway to the Costa del Sol and a key player in Spain's aviation landscape.
